NAGARE wins NICOLE prize

Congratulations to our colleagues Serge Brouyère, Pierre Jamin and Maxime Evrard. NAGARE, a company based on a groundwater flow measurement technique developed by ULiège's Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology Group as part of a First Spin-off project funded by SPW-EER, has just won the NICOLE Innovation Award 2023.

NICOLE is a major professional network in the field of sustainable industrial land management in Europe.

Founded in March 2023, NAGARE offers services for measuring/monitoring groundwater flows and the dispersion of pollutants in aquifers. The MFlux technology at the heart of NAGARE's service is based on a "single well" tracing technique (FVPDM method) that measures groundwater flow in the vicinity of the borehole tested, based on the dilution rate of a tracer injected continuously and at low flow rate into this borehole. This groundwater flow measurement can then be coupled with a pollutant concentration measurement to quantify the pollutant mass flow in the groundwater. These mass flow measurements are essential for accurately estimating the risk of pollutant dispersion in groundwater, and for sizing the resulting clean-up operations. The MFlux technology is currently being patented.
