This thesis examines the interactional practices between architects and user-clients during the design phase of private dwelling projects, with a focus on identifying potential frictions. Through in-depth interviews with 15 architects and 15 user-clients, as well as three case studies, and co-design workshops, this research aims provide guidance to develop of tools, techniques, strategies or methods that could facilitate effective collaboration and mitigate conflicts, delays, and cost overruns. By analyzing the perspectives of both architects and user-clients, this study seeks to uncover actionable insights and leverage points that can enhance the overall collaboration process.
