We are pleased to invite you to the 12th edition of the International Meuse Symposium, which will take place this year in Liège at the ULiège campus in Sart-Tilman on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, starting at 8:30 a.m.

he 12th International Meuse Symposium serves as a forum for exchange among researchers, water managers, and stakeholders involved in the Meuse River basin. The event aims to promote the sharing of knowledge and experiences on topics such as transboundary water management, hydrological system modeling, and issues related to water quantity and quality.
Created as a follow-up to the AMICE project, this series of symposia is jointly organized by Deltares, the University of Liège , and the Schone Maaswaterketen.

Program
The day will begin with two plenary lectures by Michelle van Vliet (Utrecht University) and Holger Schüttrumpf (RWTH Aachen University). These will be followed by an interactive workshop focusing on the challenges of sustainable and balanced water resource management in the Meuse River basin.
The afternoon will be organized around two parallel thematic tracks:
A) Water quantity and ecology;
B) Water quality and organic micropollutants.
A poster presentation session will also highlight recent research in these areas.
The symposium will conclude with a plenary session for summary and discussion, providing an opportunity to identify the main takeaways from the day and reflect on future prospects.

Bus lines B2 or E20 from the “Gare des Guillemins” bus stop (central station) in Liège.
Bus tickets can be purchased via the TEC app at or at the SELF ticket machine located at “Gare des Guillemins,” platform D.
Buses may be crowded in the morning. Keep in mind that the bus you’ve chosen may be full, and you may have to take the next one.
Accommodation & Networking
The University of Liège campus does not offer overnight accommodations. If you arrive in Liège the day before the conference, we recommend staying at one of the hotels located near the “Liège Guillemins” central train station. From there, buses run to the Sart-Tilman campus.
At the ibis Styles Liège Guillemins, located at 135 Rue des Guillemins, 4000 Liège, Belgium, we will organize a drink for all symposium participants already in Liège. Starting at 8:00 p.m., you are welcome to join us at the hotel bar for (a few) complimentary drinks.
