Biography
Passionate about soil physics and soil hydrodynamic behavior, I develop research on soil characterization in the laboratory and in the field. I¿ve been using computed micro-tomography since 2013 to explore and rediscover soil structure. My projects deal with various spatial and temporal scales in the fields of hydrology and soil conservation. Active teaching is another passion that influences my career choices.
Training and expertise
Trained as agronomist engineer in the Faculty of Gembloux, Belgium (graduated in 1999), I continued my studies by preparing a doctoral thesis (defended in 2005) and completing a complementary diploma in educational technology (2001). Since then, I followed various complementary training courses in pedagogy, human resources management and project management. In 2014, I did a long research stay in Wageningen University and Research center to work in their soil physics lab.
Professional career
I started as assistant at the University of Mons (B) and then at the Faculty of Gembloux, I received a course load in 2007 and was appointed Associate professor in 2012 and then professor in 2019. In 2014, I became responsible of the master degree in Science and Technology of the environment. I was elected vice-dean for teaching in 2015 for a 2 year period and again in 2017 and 2021 for 4 year periods.
