November 9-10 2017: 2-day training session for SAFIR

A 2-day training session for SAFIR will be organized on November 9-10 2017, at University of Liege in Belgium.

The session will be at the introductory level, covering mainly the following aspects:

  • General organization of the software
  • Thermal 2D analysis for beams
  • Thermal analysis for shells
  • Structural analysis with beams
  • Structural analysis with shells

Only post-flashover fires described by time-temperature curves will be considered at this stage (i.e. no localized fires, no CFD coupling).

The session will include theoretical lessons as well as practical examples completed step by step by the instructor and participants.

The session will be based on the version 2016c0 of SAFIR, version 2016 of DIAMOND and version 12 of GiD. For a most profitable experience, every participant should bring his personal computer with the pre-installed and pre-tested software package (SAFIR, Diamond, GiD, GiD-SAFIR problem types). No time will be allocated to installation of the software, so please make sure that the software package is properly installed before the day of the training session (for instance by running the examples given on the website).

The session will be given by Jean-Marc Franssen, Anthony Scifo and Thomas Gernay.

If you wish to participate to this session, please download and fill the registration form and send it back to before October 13th. Note that the number of participants will be limited; registration is on a first come, first serve basis.

The price is 500 € (HTVA) for the participation to the 2-day session, including the documentation and 2 light lunches. There is a reduction of 20% for members of the Secure with Steel network. Participation is free for ULg students and staff.

Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation reservations.
